Are you keeping hydrated?
Let’s talk “Hydration” for a minute. And perhaps focus on adopting this wonderful new habit over the next week?
Why is it important?
Since so much of your body is made of water, it’s not surprising that hydration has such big health benefits: Better digestion, more supple skin, more energy and better immunity. Water also helps eliminate headaches, lubes your joints and fights brain fog. What’s there not to love about hydration?
We won’t tell you to cut the coffee (or the cola or the sports drinks) for now.
Instead, let’s focus on adding a good thing…..
This week we challenge you to drink more water.
How much water should you have?
If you’re wondering how much hydration is right for you, here’s a simple formula:
Divide your weight in kilograms by 30 to determine how many litres of water you need.
Do you need suggestions on how to make the water taste better? Here are our top three ways to make your water taste better:
Add fresh fruit. Citrus fruits, such as lemons, limes, and oranges, are classic water enhancers. You can also try crushing fresh raspberries or watermelon into your water. Cucumber and fresh mint are refreshing flavours as well — especially in summer.
Use juice. Any fruit juice can be a good base flavour for water, but tart juices, like cranberry, pomegranate, grape, and apple, are especially delicious. Go for juices that are all natural, with no added sugars. And remember: Fruits and their juices don’t just taste good — they contain vitamins and antioxidants that can benefit your health too.
Make it bubbly. Many people prefer sparkling to still water. If plain old water isn’t inspiring to you, try mineral water — which will give you the added benefit of minerals. Or try bubbly seltzer, a carbonated water. You can add fresh fruit or natural juice flavours to your seltzer, as suggested above.
Cheers to you, beautiful!
